Although Scleral contact lenses are not new, due to improved materials and manufacture they have only recently become more popularized for very specific applications.

This type of lens can be used very effectively to treat very dry eyes, transplanted corneas, refractive surgical patients, and people with vision that has become very distorted due to corneal disease.

SynergEyes lenses are hybrid contact lenses with the center of the lens made of a gas permeable material while the outside skirt of the lens is made of a soft contact lens material.

This hybrid lens design is available in several "flavors" to allow the hybrid design to address a variety of problems. These lenses can be used to provide the crisp vision of a rigid lens while feeling like a soft lens, address presbyopia (the need for a bifocal), and resolve the vision problems associated with distorted corneas i.e. LASIK, PRK, RK, Keratoconus, Pellucids, etc.
