"I run a very busy contact lens specialty practice in New York City. There is a constant search for a better way to fit my patients to improve their lens comfort, health, vision, and overall satisfaction.

The Wave contact lens system provides an amazing new way to look at fitting many of these patients. Designed correctly, Wave lenses can be made with incredible detail and reproducibility. Given this potential, I invested in the Wave Contact Lens system for my practice.

Wave is not a point and click lens design program. It takes a thorough understanding and skill level to use effectively. At first, I was lost, frustrated with my investment and not willing to fit lenses without my trusted trial sets. A colleague of mine suggested I contact Dr. Ken Maller for help.

The day I contacted Dr Maller my frustrations ceased; I now happily fit Wave Contact Lenses for most of my GP patients. I have even switched many soft lens wearers over to Wave gas permeable lenses. Dr. Maller has devised a system that produces an amazingly precise and comfortable contact lens.

By using Dr. Maller’s consultation services I was quickly brought up to speed on the how’s and why’s of Wave custom lens designing. He has a wealth of knowledge and, amazingly, is willing to share this knowledge via consultation. To this day, I continue to call on Dr. Maller’s services for some of my more challenging cases. He always delivers in a timely and effective manner. In most cases, he has a lens design to me in less than one day, including a thorough explanation of the design itself. He also gives detailed instructions on what to look for at the slit lamp when putting the lenses on the patient.

Dr. Maller is an expert at fitting all styles of Wave contacts. He has helped me fit and understand the Wave principles for difficult fits including various forms of Keratoconus, post PK, Post RK, post trauma, and pellucid marginal degeneration.

With more regular corneas requiring either better vision or improved comfort, Dr. Maller has opened my eyes to new fitting philosophies. Fitting and troubleshooting multifocals has become more predictable and successful.

Using Wave to design lenses is very different from what most fitters have become accustomed to. We are trained to think in Base Curves related to central corneal curvature. These are not the same fitting principles used by the wave system. At first dealing with the system can be extremely confusing and frustrating. Dr. Maller’s consultation provides a timely and cost effective way to understand fitting Wave lenses.

I suggest anyone who fits Wave lenses to contact Dr. Maller and learn to fit using his methods. You and your patients will be very happy you did."
